In our Emergency Department, children are not just little adults. They have their own area where Pediatric Specialists and pediatric nurses attend to their care in an efficient and competent manner. Children are special and our staff makes an effort to see children as quickly as possible and not allow them to wait in midst of sick adults. Furthermore, the staff does its best to alleviate the natural anxiety a child and their parents experience coming to the seemingly intimidating world of an emergency department. The Main Emergency Care Area is prepared to handle all emergencies, whether it be a stubbed toe or a heart attack. Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. During the hours that the Minor Treatment and KidCare areas are open, the Main Emergency Care Area takes care of emergencies that area too severe for the KidCare or Minor Treatment areas to handle.
Our Main Emergency Care Area has a Chest Pain and Stroke Unit dedicated to diagnosing and treating the two emergencies where time is of the greatest essence - heart attacks and strokes. It also has seven resuscitation beds to take care of the sickest of the sick in a private dignified manner. There are 60 other rooms or private spaces where all other emergencies are handled in a very comfortable setting.

Everything in our Minor Treatment Area is dedicated to taking care of your emergency quickly and effectively. Minor Treatment is open from 8 AM to 11 PM and is staffed by one or two JEMS clinicians who will effectively and rapidly take care of you. There is a full staff of nurses and other personnel who are dedicated to the Minor Treatment with the philosophy of prompt care.
Since we see all emergencies in our department and we want to see everyone who visits us quickly, the patients who can be rapidly seen and treated are seen in this area, and the Main Emergency Care Area is reserved for patients requiring more time and resources for their diagnosis and care. More...
